Who is eligible for an H1N1 (swine flu) vaccination?

Anyone of any age or health status can now receive an H1N1 vaccination through the Larimer County Health Department, if and when vaccine is available.

Though the availability is now open to the general public, it is still very important for members of certain groups to be vaccinated as soon as possible. These "priority groups" have the highest numbers of serious illness and hospitalizations due to the H1N1 flu at this time.

Priority groups include:

  • pregnant women
  • parents, household members, and /or caretakers of infants under 6 months old
  • healthy people aged 6 months through 24 years of age
  • people ages 6 months old through 64 years old with underlying chronic health conditions*
  • health care workers and EMS providers

*Chronic health conditions include:

  • cancer
  • blood disorders
  • lung diseases (asthma, COPD)
  • diabetes
  • heart disease
  • kidney disorders
  • liver disorders
  • epilepsy, cerebral palsy, brain or spinal cord injuries or developmental delays
  • muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis or other neuromuscular disorders
  • weakened immune system due to diseases such as HIV or AIDS, leukemia, or conditions from immune-suppressing medications
